A day on the circuit isn’t just about playing matches. There’s travel, practice, preparation, and plenty of moments off the board that make a professional darts career both exciting and challenging.
Most days start early. I like to begin with some focused practice — scoring routines, doubles, and working on finishing combinations. Then it’s time for physical and mental warm-ups. Fitness and mental clarity are more important than most people realise; stamina affects your throw just as much as your wrist and arm technique.
When a tournament day arrives, the preparation shifts slightly. I’ll review my recent matches, check the board conditions, and focus on the rhythm of my throws. Walk-on music — for me, Elton John’s “Pinball Wizard” — helps me settle into the right mindset. The moment the lights go on and the crowd is watching, all the practice pays off.
After matches, there’s analysis. I look at stats, averages, and what worked or didn’t. The PDC C-T circuit is fast-paced, and learning quickly is key to staying competitive. Off the board, it’s just as important to rest, eat well, and reflect. A balanced approach keeps me sharp and ready for the next match.
For me, the journey is just as important as the destination. Every match, practice session, and behind-the-scenes routine builds the player I want to become.
